Ngong Hills
Now we have finished the two classes we have been teaching. This means more time to relax in the evening, having the opportunity to travel more, less early mornings and less time used being the strict teacher.
But still I feel kind of sad, I really enjoyed teaching those students. It was absolutely worth it; getting up early in the mornings, travelling on bumpy roads in speedy matatus, spending many late evenings preparing for the next day. I don't think for a single day I woke up, dreading to go to work, and this I have the students to thank for. Great people! :)
We had decided to do something fun together before we closed the classes, so last week both classes went mountain hiking, to Ngong Hills.
We borrowed the bus Mathare Youth are normally using, and it did the first climbing for us. On the way we picked up a Masaii who needed a lift, and he took care of the entertainment on the bus.
The climbing begins..
It was still energy left for some games when we reached the top. :)
I had never pictured myself stading on the top of a mountain giving out certificates. But why not? Much more fun than standing inside a classroom.
