For we are Gods masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so that we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. - Eph. 2.10

Touring East Africa

A lot of things have happened since last time I wrote. Many hours have been spent sitting on a bus travelling on bumpy roads, or standing in front of people talking about painkillers, PRICE and even leadership. New countries have been visited, new friends have met and new food has been tasted. We have toured East Africa.

In Tanzania we brought two of our students; Liz and Stephen, and visited CHRISC & EMIMA in Dar Es Salaam, and CHRISC in Zanzibar. First Aid classes were held, and thanks to the students, me and Hilde could happily relax and watch the facilitation of the classes. It was also time for exploring Stonetown in Zanzibar, sunbading, swimming, and watching dolphins swimming too quickly for me to be able to go together with them..

After some days in Nairobi the journey continued for me and Hilde. Uganda was the next country to be explored. We went for a sports camp in Kisoro, a small place close to the border of Congo and Rwanda. A camp with many different sports activities, meetings, preachings, worship, dancing, seminars, games and people from many different countries. Great fun!

It is alwyas fun to teach when the students are interested

In Kampala I cried my eyes out, walking through smoke and teargas, caused by angry demonstrators fighting to keep their marketplace.

From Kampala we headed for Yei in Sudan, getting stuck on muddy roads for the second and third time so far on the trip, made the journey a bit longer than normal, but in the end we arrived in Yei safely.

In Yei we had seminars in first aid and leadership. Semei from CHRISC Uganda accompanied us on the trip, and helped with the seminars.

In the evenings we had time to join the CHRISC group playing volleyball.

Back in Kampala on the way to Nairobi I even had the chance to watch Rosenborg draw against Chelsea, together with a bunch of Chelsea fans who barely had heard about Rosenborg. Talk about the perfect ending of a great trip!
