A weekend off

I had almost forgotten how it is to have a whole weekend off.. But it feels good! Now I'm actually out of things to do for the moment, so ended up in my livingroom in front of the computer..
This week has been really busy, every day coming late from work, not able to do anything but sleeping on the sofa and waking up knowing I have to prepare teaching for next day.
So yesterday Siv and I celebrated the weekend eating ugali, onions and tomato, while watching two movies. :) Today I've been to the hairdresser, cutting my hair and at the same time getting a manicure and pedicure.. A bit luxury after a hard week..
And crazy things keep happening, I guess by the time I return to Norway nothing will surprise me anymore. The other night I woke up at 3 am, from a man running outside, screaming like a mad man. Later I found out that this was a very stupid attempt of robbery. Some men had been sitting by the pool since the evening, and in the middle of the night stealing one of the chairs by the pool, obviosly seemed like a good idea. The only problem was to get the chair over the tall electric fence, but of course another superb idea came to their minds; "We just cut the upper part of the fence!" But I have to admit I didn't know electric shock could cause a man to scream like that. At least the guards had no problems finding him!
When it comes to the moving we have decided to live on the safe side of Nairobi. After someone had dumped the dead body of a woman just outside our workplace, the decision wasn't too hard.. Now we have been out looking at several houses/apartments, still without any luck, but not giving up yet!

Last weekend Siv and I were babysitters for Hilde's lovely girls! Quite a handful, but we all survived, and it was great fun!

My best purchase here in Nairobi has earned a portrait on my blog. My fantastic, hard-working BLENDER! Don't know how I survived without it. So now my plan is to start a business selling smoothies and shakes to people stuck in traffic jam outside my house.. A good way of paying the rent, don't you think? ;)

Mmmmm... Ugali! And of course eating with the fingers. :)

The road not taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Should I stay or should I go?

And then there were none.. Yep, people keep leaving me. Now Hilde is back in Norway, and the sparebed in my room is empty. But it was nice having you here girl! Go sell your stories!

This weekend I've been out searching for a new place to stay. Starting to get really tired of travelling almost 2 hours each way to work, and it would be good to live a bit closer to work and the people I work with.. But the thing about Nairobi is that I can't just pick a place to stay.. Some are telling me; here it is safe to stay, no worries. Others say; Are you crazy! You can't live there! Hmm..And I just keep getting more and more confused.. But time will show, maybe this is my last month in Blackrose, maybe not.. To be continued..

Hilde.. All this after only 4 weeks... He, he..

Yes, belive it or not. This is actually the same city, even if it looks like Hilde has visited two completely different continents..
